Outlets & Switches

Receptacles & Electricity

Your receptacles and switches are your interface with your electrical system. Just as importantly they are the connections that keep the flow of electricity going through your home. One bad connection can result in a fire or the rest of the circuit no longer functioning.

If you have loose receptacles that won’t hold the cord tight, or show signs of getting hot, it is important to not ignore them. Get them replaced. Any switches that seem loose or don’t work should also be replaced quickly. Using a good quality device is also important. Don’t fall for cheap devices that will just have to be replaced again.

Surge Suppression

Today we have more and more expensive electrical circuit boards and electronic circuits that can be damaged by surges in voltage. The electrical code now requires a whole house surge suppression system to provide protection.

Surges are like an “electrical rust” that can canker and damage circuit boards little by little until they quit prematurely. You can’t see the electrical rust but you can see its damaging effects. A good suppression system can guard against it and provide needed protection.
