Clean air ducts and HVAC systems will save you time and help your health!
Air Duct Cleaning Perhaps one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself!
Air Duct Cleaning may be one of the more important things you can do to help your HVAC system last longer and save you money on your utility bills.
Dirty air ducts will continue to contribute to the dirt problem in an HVAC system. If we leave dirty ducts, no matter how good our filter is, we will continue to redistribute dirt and dust around the house. Where does all the dust and dirt in the air ducts come from?
It has been estimated that the average home accumulates over 40 pounds of dust and dirt each year. A lot of that is what comes in from outside on our feet through the air etc. Other comes from dead skin cells, dust mites. and other gross things.
Unfortunately new homes usually start out with very dirty air ducts!
Unless the contractor is vigilant about covering and re-covering the duct openings, that is the easiest place to sweep dirt and debris. Think of it like a bunch of little garbage cans. Is that a stupid thing to do? Yes, but sometimes people on a construction site don't really care. They often just do the easiest thing possible.
How would you know if your brand new system is dirty? Carefully remove any vent cover, and reach your hand back in as far as you can and pull out what is in there. You'll almost always pull out sheetrock pieces, wood shavings, and other debris. It's worse if the home was finished during the winter and the furnace was used for heat during construction. Paint, sheetrock dust, carpet fibers, flooring pieces are all pulled into the ducts during the finish part of construction if the furnace was used.
Fortunately with the right equipment and expertise air ducts can be cleaned and restored to their former newish self. Clean air ducts combined with a good air filtration system will significantly reduce the amount of dusting and cleaning that needs to be done in a home.
