A Clean Furnace Will Last Longer

Furnaces today are getting more and more expensive. $$

Often, the biggest threat to your furnace is dirt!

If you want to get the most out of your HVAC system, follow these simple ideas.

Get your air ducts cleaned.
Get your furnace cleaned including the blower, secondary heat exchanger and the air conditioning coil.
Get a high efficient filter such as a Lennox Pure air installed so that the furnace will stay clean.

Todays furnaces are different!

Back in the old days, furnaces were built out of much heavier materials with larger spaces in between parts. A little dirt didn't effect much, and they would still function pretty much the same.

Today, furnaces are built out of much lighter and thinner materials. The tolerances are much closer so there is not as much room for dirt and its damaging effects. Furnaces have a heat exchanger that is meant to transfer heat from the burning fuel gasses to the air in the home. To get the most heat out of the fuel, some furnaces have an additional heat exchanger called the secondary heat exchanger. The secondary heat exchanger has fins that are close together. These fins attract dirt which then insulates them keeping them from transferring the heat.

If we do not get a good heat transfer, the furnace gets too hot and degrades the metals resulting in premature failure.

I'm not sure which is worse. Furnace failing prematurely, or human health issues from dirty air blowing around. Cleaning your furnace and air ducts and adding an excellent air cleaner can make a difference to your health.
